Why do you charge for
access?
Unfortunately there are costs associated
with bringing you this service. Namely, host servers for the
Book of Shadows application and the database for the storage
and retrieval of spells can be quite costly. We have tried
to compensate for charging for this service by keeping subscription
fees low and providing quality content.

Can you tell me a little
about your organization?
The 1001spells site is ran by a small group
of individuals who believe that pagan, wiccan, and occult
information should be made accessible to anyone willing to
learn. Early on, we saw the web as a great medium for the
collection and distribution of ancient knowledge. Most importantly,
we felt, is that users can access information through the
Internet privately and from almost anywhere, regardless of
the moral majority in their community. We have tried to build
our products and services with these goals in mind.

Where do your spells come
from?
All spells in the Book of Shadows program
are submitted by members of the 1001spells site. Their origins
vary greatly. Some are very old spells that have been handed
down through generations and others have been created by the
members themselves. Many of these spells have been tested
or used by the 1001spells staff, and we have found that most
users only post spells that they find to be most useful. We
haven't came across a spell yet that didn't work.

How many total spells
do you have?
Because spells are being added at all times,
we cannot give you an exact number. However, we guarantee
to have a minimum of one-thousand and one spells at any given
moment.

Are there more than just
spells?
Yes. All sorts of pagan/wiccan/occult information
has been added to the Book of Shadows program and more is
being added daily. You can add any related information to
the Book of Shadows as long as it does not violate our Terms
of Service.

How does the Spell Casting
Service work?
The Spell Casting Service is an exclusive
feature for members and is provided at no additional cost.
This service allows you to create a custom spell designed
to bring your wishes into reality. The way it works is our
software will ask you several questions designed to help you
define your goal. When you have completed your responses,
we take those answers and use them to form a spell that we
then release into the universe on your behalf through a special
ritual. Remember, this is a free service to all members. You
do not have to pay extra for it.

How much does it cost?
Subscriptions grant you access to all the
spells, articles, and features of the Book of Shadows program.
Full access monthly subscriptions are only $4.99 (US) and
you may cancel at any time. You also have the option of lifetime
subscriptions at a substantially reduced price of $59.99,
which is the best value because it saves you money over time.
Lifetime subscriptions also grant you access to any new services
or updates as they come along. This fee helps to maintain
the servers and bandwidth required to bring you this service.

Do you allow international
users?
Yes, of course. Our members come from all
corners of the globe. Our method of accepting subscriptions,
PayPal.com, accepts payments from over 30 different countries.

How long after signing
up before I can access the Book of Shadows?
If your subscription goes through successfully,
you can begin accessing the Book of Shadows program right
away. Simply enter your username and password and click "Login".
Please allow eChecks to clear before your account is set to
active. Lifetime memberships are manually entered, so please
allow 24-48 hours for activation if you subscribe to our Lifetime
plan.

There was an error at
PayPal, how can I check if my subscription went through?
The best way to check if your subscription
went through is to try to log into the Book of Shadows program.
If the Book of Shadows program doesn't accept your username
and password, it generally means that your order did not go
through. Another way would be to log into your account at
PayPal.com (http://www.paypal.com)
and click the "History" tab. All payments you have
made through PayPal will appear there. If your subscription
does not show up as "Completed", most likely your
subscription did not go through and you should try again.

PayPal doesn't accept
payments from my country, can I still subscribe?
Yes, unfortunately the only method we have
for accepting subscriptions over the web is through PayPal.com
and if they do not allow payments from your country, we do
not have any way of accepting your subscription online. You
will have to order by cash, check, or money order. More information

Are there any harmful
spells in the Book of Shadows?
We ask that all information submitted to
the Book of Shadows program conform to our Terms
of Service, which prohibits spells and other information
that is violent or otherwise inflicts personal harm. However,
we are unable to screen submitted information, so there may
be potentially harmful information in the Book of Shadows
program and members should use caution when using any information
available through this site. Further, the Spell Archive contains
a vast amount of information from a multitude of sources,
time periods, cultural traditions, and geographical locations.
Many spells contained in the archive may contain components
that should be considered dangerous, potentially harmful,
and consisting of deadly materials, and these spells should
not be used. We strongly urge users to research the materials
before trying to perform any spell.

Someone posted my copyrighted
spell, what can I do?
Please DO NOT
post any copyrighted material. We respect the intellectual
property of others, and we ask our users to do the same. If
you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes
copyright infringement, or your intellectual property rights
have been otherwise violated, please contact our Support
Team. You will be asked to confirm that you are the legal
owner of the property and upon confirmation, we will promptly
remove the infringing material.

What system requirements
are needed to run the Book of Shadows?
The Book of Shadows application works on
almost any Internet-connected computer. It works with Mac,
Windows, Linux, or any other operating system that has a standard
web browser. Standard browsers include Netscape, Internet
Explorer and others. For best performance, we recommend a
computer with Pentium II, equivalent, or higher processing.
The free Flash
plugin by Macromedia.com is also required to view and run
the Book of Shadows application.

I have a dialup connection,
how large is the Book of Shadows program?
The Book of Shadows program itself is approximately
308 KB in size, which takes about 44 seconds to download over
a 56K dialup connection. Once cached, there is no significant
load time for the Book of Shadows. Loading actual spells into
the application only takes a few seconds.

The Book of Shadows froze
or got stuck on loading, what should I do?
As with all web pages, there are sometimes
snags when fetching information through the Internet. If the
Book of Shadows freezes or sticks, try clicking to a different
page and then returning to the page you were requesting. If
the problem persists, try closing the Book of Shadows and
logging in again.

My shared page doesn't
work, or no spells are showing up, why?
Make sure that you are sharing your spells
by clicking "Share Spells" in the Book of Shadows
program. If you do not see an option that reads "Stop
Sharing Spells" then you are currently not sharing spells
and that feature needs to be enabled. Also, you can only share
spells that you have entered into the Book of Shadows. If
you have not entered any spells, no spells will appear in
your shared web page.
